Volume 2 — Chapter 2 — Hero Part 2
Sponsored Chapter
— — —
A village in a remote area of Foranada territory. It seems that the boy who invented the game of reversi lives in a deserted place with no particular attractions other than a large mountain towering nearby.
Yes, a boy. According to the information that the merchant had gathered, it was a kid about my age who brought the idea to a local store.
The Foranada also investigated the boy and found the following information.
His name was Yudai Braigadda Kurmila. His parents were hunters, but both of them were deceased. He was currently being cared for at the village chief's house. Although he had an ordinary face, he has many friends because of his cheerful personality and a strong sense of justice. He also has black hair and eyes.
In my previous life, that kind of color was normal, but in this world, his black hair and dark eyes were an extraordinary appearance. That was because it was proof that they have the aptitude for magic with more than five attributes.
Such a person rarely appears. As a probability, it was a good match with the number of Non-Attributed people. Though the evaluations between the two of them were heaven and earth different.
Hence, in the majority of cases, dark-haired and dark-eyed children can receive assistance from the lords of the territory they were in. They could be adopted or financially supported. It appears that the latter was used with Foranada.
How come I didn't know that he was affected by the corruption of the past? The money had been paid, but the boy's vital papers were missing. It was too much of a mystery what kind of procedures could have led to this situation.
Getting back on the topic.
Why did I gather information on the Yudai? It wasn’t because he was suspected of being a reincarnated person.
Because of the Reversi invention, there was no doubt that he was a reincarnator, but that was not the only point that caught my attention.
His black hair and eyes, the name “Yudai,” and the way he invented the game of reversi in his youth. These elements were exactly the same as the protagonist in “Tōzai no Isamu Sei-ki.”
The protagonist was not a saint, but a hero.
As a matter of fact, [Isamu Sei-ki] was a game with two main characters. But it changes depending on the gender chosen at the start of the game.
Their plot rarely intersected with each other, so it was possible for some players to be completely unfamiliar with one scenario or the other, but I knew both.
Rather, I originally started out wanting to play the Hero’s scenario. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have thought of playing a romance game from a female perspective. At least, the only game I have played that has elements of an Otome game was [Isamu Sei-ki].
To be honest, I had no idea if the Hero’s scenario would be involved in this reality. I even doubted if the Hero even existed.
The reason is that, as mentioned above, there was little relevance in the game. In the saint's scenario, the head of the school was an old man, but in the hero's scenario, It was an old Loli(an old woman).
Well, nothing was impossible, so I made some preparations. The search, which was left to the intelligence department, was part of it.
However, I was surprised this time. I never dreamed that the Hero was from Foranada. In the game, it was only said he was from the countryside.
So, what I wanted to do when I met the Hero was to find out what kind of person he was.
Since this was a real place, it may not be completely irrelevant, just like in a game. Therefore, I wanted to know in advance who he was in real life.
I had already learned from the civil war that I was in a hurry to deal with things at the last minute. So I was not going to dismiss the possibility of anything ever again.
So, ostensibly as an inspection, I visited the village where the heroes lived. Accompanying me were ten knights and Shion. I couldn’t bring a large number of people to a small village, so this was the minimum number of people I could bring.
Caron was very stubborn to the end, but I managed to persuade her. I had to be careful when I returned, but it was a welcome development for me, so I was fine with it.
The village was just as I was told. At best, it was tranquil; at worst, it was bleak. Only one mountain, which seemed to be at least 800 meters high, was worth seeing.
The knights must have been unusual, so the eyes of the villagers were focused on us all the time.
Feeling a little uncomfortable, we arrived at the village chief’s house. Since we had been sent a prior notice, we were immediately ushered into the reception room.
The elderly man with a friendly smile was the chief of this village. With my permission, he sat down in front of me and said a few words of greeting while rubbing his hands together.
“Zechs Levit y San Foranada-sama. Welcome to ourvillage. Today is a fine day—”

The village chief spends a long time in his speech.
On the surface, he seems friendly, but to my eyes, which were educated as an aristocrat, he was something else entirely.
The village chief was an authoritarian. He was humble and obsequious to his superiors but aggressive toward those who are lower than him. He was the kind of person who was always trying to be bossy with those who were lower than him. I could sense a glimpse of his desire in every word he said.
In the game, it was said that he had a wonderful upbringing, but I guess that's just the Hero’s point of view. He had dark hair, dark eyes, and a promising future, so he must have been playing the cat.
I let the Village Chief’s line go by, thinking of it as something unimportant. It was all just a bunch of sycophantic sycophancy anyway, so I don't need to remember it.
I then open my mouth when the conversation has progressed somewhat.
“I heard that a boy from this village invented a board game called Reversi. I heard that he is the same age as me.”
I asked him as if I had overheard it on the road. It was better not to give correct information to such people who were influenced by authority.
The Village Chief clapped his hands and said, "Ah!"
“You mean Yudai! He is a child in my family's care. He is a smart boy and has learned to write things and do math all by himself. He also invents all kinds of new inventions besides Reversi.”
He talks with an attitude that says he was proud of his son. His eyes were glazed over with greed for money, though.
I continued, feeling a little taken aback by the village chief's obviousness.
“Can I have a talk with this Yudai?”
“If it is your wish, I will bring him to you immediately.”
“...No, don't force him. Only if he agrees, can I ask you that?”
“If you say so. You want me to call him right now?”
“Yeah.”
The Village Chief gave me a quizzical look at the statement about not bringing him in forcefully.
Is that unreasonable? It was not usual for a nobleman to consider the feelings of a commoner.
But this was good. Considering the character of the Hero in the game, forcing him to come here would worsen my relationship with him.
If possible, I would like to have a direct conversation with him, but at the very least, a peek into his everyday life would not be a problem.
The Village Chief, who had left the room to call for the Hero, returns a short time later. But, he was alone.
He then bowed his head, looking deeply apologetic.
“I apologize. Yudai is not equipped with the manners and etiquette to meet with a nobleman…”
“It’s fine. I'm the one who asked for the impossible. I'm tired today, and I'm going to rest in my room.”
“I understand. I will show you to your room.”
The Hero’s response was somewhat predictable, so I lightly waves my hand in forgiveness. If I didn't express that I didn't mind at all, the Hero would be reprimanded later. I wanted to eliminate as much as possible the possibility that he would have a negative image of me.
After leaving the reception room, I enter the guest room with Shion.
“How was it?”
“Well, as well as could be expected. Not happy.”
I replied to Shion's question with a sullen look on my face.
The flow of events up to this point was as I had expected.
That was because the character of the hero in the game is a fair and honest hot-blooded man. He was a reincarnator who has modern Japanese values. He was averse to the status system and often came into conflict with the arrogant aristocrats in the game as well.
In other words, when he hears that a nobleman wants to meet with him for a chat, he interprets it as “I'm sure he will push an unreasonable demand,” and refuses to meet with them.
He was so hard-headed or whatever you call it…The reaction was so much like I thought it would be that it was appalling.
To be honest, I didn't like the Hero. I didn't like his mentality of not questioning his values, his ideas, and his righteousness. I finished the game because the heroine was attractive, but without her, I would have given up on the game.
“I'm going to see him now. I'm not sure he is what I think he is.”
I don’t have the slightest bit of hope but just to be safe, I’m going to check on the Hero directly. If I use [Disguise] and dress up as a villager or use [Cover Texture] to hide, he won't be able to see me at this point.
Hearing my remarks, Shion politely bent her back.
“I understand. Then, I'll send some knights to…”
“I don't need them.”
I interrupted her as she was about to prepare an escort.
“I don't want the other party to find out, so I'm going out alone.”
“But it's dangerous.”
“There's no one in the suburbs who can beat me right now. You can rest assured of that.”
Shion advised me as a subordinate, but I didn’t give in.
I don't like the Hero, but I don't want to antagonize him. He may have a certain personality, but he would have a strong influence in the future. If I couldn’t reverse Caron’s fate because of antagonizing him, I would be blindsided.
Besides, it was a fact, not pride, that no bandit could beat me.
Through training with Akatsuki (the hidden boss), my level jumped up to 92. I am now strong enough to fight the last boss on my own. There was no such strong enemy in this countryside.
“I understand, but please be sure to let us know if there is anything we can do to help.”
“All right.”
It seemed that Shion understood she couldn’t reverse my decision.
I felt bad, but I started preparing to go out.
Now, I wonder what kind of person is the Hero in this reality.
